Drive Belts - Toothed drive
belts are available in a range of pitches (tooth sizes) and belt
widths. The larger the pitch and wider the belt the greater the
power transmission capacity of the belt. They can be used in
similar situations to roller chains but often where the shaft and
line speeds are too high for roller chains. They give quiet and
reliable power transmission. Not so good where heavy dynamic
breaking through the belt drive is required as they can show a
tendency to skip over the smaller driven pulley.
