Steel - another essential
material for structures and machine components. Steels forms
normally of interest to the DIY'er are plate, flats, hollow tube
(round and square sections) and bright and black round bar.
The grades of steel needed are
generally shown in the plans sets for the vehicles but mainly mild
steel is used. Several shafting elements are more heavily stressed
however and higher carbon or low alloy steels are preferred for
